Solar Powered Water Heaters - 120 Gallons Flat Plate Solar Heat Exchanger

In warmer climates, such much of the Souther United States, and areas around the world with similar weather and season patterns, Evacuated Tube Solar Collectors are not as cost-effective as their Flat Plate Solar Collector cousins.  In Cooler climates, where freezing is a problem, Evacuated Solar Collectors are a necessity, but in those warmer areas, where the temperature never gets below freezing, Flat Plate Collectors are more than sufficient for an efficient, cost-effective Solar Hot Water Heating System.

Silicon Solar is proud to offer New Heat Exchanger Solar Hot Water Systems made with our industry leading SunMaxx Flat Plate Solar Collectors.  A single 120 Gallon System can easily 80% or more of the hot water needs of a household of a medium sized family (4 or 5 people), and combines the SunMaxx Flat Plate Collectors with a AIC Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger, which allows you to thermally heat your potable hot water supply with the transfer fluid in your collector loop.

Benefits:
Solar Hot Water Storage Tanks are expensive, becuase they often incorporate 1 or more internal heat exchangers.  But, if you have just purchased a brand new hot water storage tank, or your existing tank is more than adequate, the additional cost of a second hot water storage tank can be prohibitive.  Enter the external heat exchanger:

Similar to the coil heat exchangers found inside many solar hot water storage tanks, external heat exchangers allow for a safe, efficient transfer of heat between the glycol mixture in your collector loop, and the potable water in your domestic supply, saving you hundreds of dollars on the purchase of a new hot water storage tank when it is not needed.

Additionally, customers in warmer climates benefit from this system becuase of the lower cost of Flat Plate Solar Collectors, which allows for a lower initial system cost, and a shorter payback period and higher return on their investment.

Requirements:
Roof Space : The Solar Collectors require 44 square feet of roof space Orientation : In the Northern Hemisphere, the collector should face South; in the Southern Hemisphere, the collector should face North.  Click Here for Additional Help

Collector Tilt : Optimum tilt for the solar collectors is equal to the latitude of your location. However, a few degrees (1 - 10) is hardly the additional cost to correct. Click Here for Additional Help
